Our Story
About His Handy Hands — Willow Spring & Holly Springs Handyman
His Handy Hands is more than a business — it's a legacy of craftsmanship, faith, and honest hard work passed down through generations.

Ken Brock Jr
Owner & Operator
I'm amazed at what I've learned growing up in the shadow of my dad. Jake, my father, was a jack of all trades. If something broke he could repair it. My dad was a hard man too, howbeit with good reason. He dropped out of grade school to take care of his mother and two siblings.
When I came into the world he caddied at a golf course and did odds and ends for homeowners or businesses that needed an extra hand. You could also find Jake at my uncle's stone quarry busting massive rocks into smaller ones. When my dad wasn't doing all those things he was gardening, hunting, fishing, baking, and taking the Minor Lane kids to amusement parks or us to Dairy Queen. He loved enjoying the outdoors.
Oh, I failed to mention — dad also was a preacher of righteousness with other men in the congregation. Sometime later in life, he landed employment at the local steel mill. Even then, he continued those side gigs to place food on our table, care for his mother, and build what would later become known as home to me and my four younger siblings.
Without formal education and the help of YouTube, he built our home, nail by nail; brick-by-brick. By the time I reached 12 years old, he had paid off the loan. You can see our home he built on this website listed in the gallery.
That spacious lot, which he bought from my mother's grandfather, was at the end of Minor's Lane. White Creek and vast acres of woods bordered the side and back of the property. On the opposite side of the creek sat Rosasa's farm. They raised livestock, grew crops, and nourished a famous apple orchard where customers would travel from miles away to buy their apple cider. One of my fondest childhood memories was dunking spice cookies into that cider until it was totally saturated and then eating them.
If you haven't figured it out by now, I grew up in the country. Time would fail me if I tried to recount all my childhood stories, but the point I'm trying to make is that we were simple people making an honest living. He was an amazing man and somehow those skills and gifts transferred to me.
His Handy Hands is a play on words to credit my heavenly Father and Jesus Christ for those transferred skills, His gift of salvation, and my dad. At His Handy Hands, we honour these simple instilled values by serving each customer with exceptional work and a personal touch.
